From your closet tot the landfill

Carla Espachs and Sandra Salmerón

We know that our daily actions have environmental consequences to a greater or lesser extent. There are more and more initiatives thought in favor of the environment and, above all, people concerned about reducing their daily impact.

Undoubtedly, there are things that could be eliminated or replaced to reduce pollution. However, it would be difficult to think, for example, of a world without clothes and textiles. There is practically no way to eliminate this input anywhere in the world.

This does not mean that we cannot move towards a responsible consumption in which we reduce our purchase of clothing, based on its durability and quality, and not based on unnecessary trends. This implies not choosing fast fashion, opting for sustainable and local brands, as well as repairing, reusing and renewing what we already have.

Therefore, it is worth knowing what we mean when we talk about fast fashion and what is its environmental impact. This way, you will be more aware of what you buy.
